  3. Elmhurst College Acts of Random Kindness Club: James and the Chocolate Factory

    September 10, 2017, 10:00 AM @ Elmhurst College (specifically at the Elmhurst College Mall)

    Attendees will get a T-shirt, hot chocolate, cookies, brownies, and there will be a DJ as well as raffle prizes! The purpose of this event is to help a family in the Elmhurst College community. A bit about the family: Jeff Fulkerson works in the tech department at Elmhurst College. He has a wife named Stacy and they have a son named James. James is 8 years old and has Epilepsy. He can't sit, talk, walk, eat by mouth, and has over 100 seizures a day. No registration fee to create a team online, but the purpose of the teams is for members to fundraise to help pay for the Fulkerson's medical expenses.

  4. Lecture: The Disco Invasion in Films of the ‘70s

    Just as the British Invasion changed the pop music landscape in the 1960s, the Disco Invasion a decade later had an enormous impact on American culture, including the movies. Peter Hawley presents a lecture that will contextualize the Disco Invasion, and investigate the influence of the genre on Hollywood films of the 1970s including Saturday Night Fever, Thank God It's Friday, Roller Boogie and more. Hawley has been a filmmaker and college educator for more than 20 years and was the founding chair of the Film program at Tribeca Flashpoint College, where he was named Dean in 2014.
