  2. Rescuer of Once Loved Things: The Art of Donna Castellanos

    Donna Castellanos collects and transforms everyday objects, which she calls "once loved things", into a bold hands-on exhibit. Visitors experience the museum galleries as if they were a home; each room includes worn and well-loved items that share a commonality, from repurposed encyclopedias to antique musical instruments. Both nostalgia and inclusion are strong motifs throughout the exhibition, as visitors are invited to add their own contributions.

  3. Snoopy and the Red Baron

    The World War I Flying Ace debuted in 1965, and the character has become one of most recognizable Peanuts personas. This new traveling exhibit from the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, CA tells the full story of the charismatic and beloved character from its early origins to Schulz’s detailed WWI research. Learn about this favorite Peanuts storyline through reproductions of Schulz’s original comic strip artwork; WWI artifacts, film, rare collectibles, photos and more.

  4. Monstrous Regiment

    The comic fantasy Monstrous Regiment is an adaptation of the best-selling 2003 Discworld novel, which premiered to great praise at Chicago’s Lifeline Theatre in 2014. The play is a wickedly funny look at the absurdities of war and the ambiguities of identity as our heroine, Polly Perks, must disguise herself as a young man to join the army in the search for her missing brother. In her quest, she soon discovers that she’s not alone in protecting a secret and that nothing in war is as it seems.

  7. Elmhurst Art Museum: Soirée 2018

    April 28, 2018, 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM

    Join us for the Elmhurst Art Museum’s Soirée 2018, honoring Suellen Rocca. Proceeds will be used to help the Elmhurst Art Museum enrich people’s lives by deepening their knowledge of art, architecture and design, increasing their understanding of the relevance of visual art in society & sparking the development of individual creativity. This event will be in honor of artist and curator Suellen Rocca. In the 1960s, Rocca and 5 other artists formed the groundbreaking group the Hairy Who, known for their powerfully graphic images and brazen sense of humor. Rocca began teaching at Elmhurst College in 1983, and since 2006 she has been the Curator and Director of Exhibitions for the College’s collection of Chicago Imagist art. The 2018 Soiree, presented by EAM’s Sustaining Fellows will include cocktails, a multi-course dinner, entertainment, and live and silent auctions filled with artworks by established and emerging artists as well as a fabulous selection of vacations and experiences.
