  3. The Whole World a Bauhaus

    Touring the globe (Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Elmhurst, and Karlsruhe), this exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus, a legendary German school that revolutionized modern thinking and artistic approaches to industrialization. Photographs and documents combine with art and design pieces by Bauhaus masters and students—such as Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, Wassily Kandinsky, Josef and Anni Albers, László Moholy-Nagy, Marcel Breuer and more.

    Political gladiators Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas meet again in Elmhurst City Council Chambers to discuss the turbulent times of the 1850s as America spiraled toward Civil War. Watch two accomplished first-person presenters George Buss (Lincoln) and Tim Connors (Douglas) recreate highlights from this historic series of seven debates that took place across Illinois at a crucial time in our country’s history.
