A short Q & A about the June 6, 2026 Elmhurst Cycling Classic
Is it too early to think about Summer events?
Absolutely not! Now is a great time to mark your calendars. In fact, the team behind the June 6 Elmhurst Cycling Classic has been hard at work since last summer planning this year’s event in Wilder Park.
Do I have to be a cyclist or runner to attend?
No! One of the most common misconceptions is that spectators need to be racers, cyclists, or mile-runners. This is not the case! Most people come for the free show of speed and strength because they can stand a few feet from the action. It is an exciting, free sporting event and much more.
I have not been to the event before? What should I expect?
Bike racing is a uniquely American form of fast, furious racing that resembles NASCAR more than the Tour De France. Elite bike racing is certainly the “show,” but the day also features music, food, expo vendors, and a Community & Family Fun Ride – all of which is FREE.
The races throughout the day are grouped by skill and experience. The second half of the day features the fastest races, with Pro Elite women racing at 3:50 pm and the Pro Elite men at 6 pm. Don’t miss the 6 pm professional race!
In between those two pro races is the Elmhurst Park District Community & Family Fun Ride, which is also free. Participants can hop on the course and do several laps around the university, in front of the crowds. Registration is free at Courts Plus (Reg opens April 25)
Spectators can spend time in the Phase Three Beer Garden at the Mansion, walk around the course, visit the expo vendors, or simply hang out near the Start/Finish line catching the action up close and enjoying the music and food available.
What vendors will be there?
We will have food from Primos Locos, Stouts BBQ, and Rough Edges Confectionery. The Phase Three beer garden at the Wilder Mansion will serve several of their popular brews. We will have community organizations on site celebrating America 250 Elmhurst and joining the Fun Ride. The Elmhurst Pride Collective will have face painters for kids and they will also be decorating bikes for the Community & Family Fun Ride. Trek Bikes will be on site as will several local businesses.
Is the event part of America 250?
Yes, it is! Look for the Explore Elmhurst tent for more information. This uniquely American form of racing happens to be the anniversary of D-Day, and we will feature several Veterans organizations. The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans will be raising awareness for veterans in need, and professional team Project Echelon will be there promoting their mission of assisting veterans.
How do I learn more?
