Niebuhr Monument

A bronze sculpture of Elmhurst College alumnus Reinhold Niebuhr. A well-known twentieth-century theologian, Niebuhr (1892-1971) served on the faculty at Union Theological Seminary in New York City 1928 - 1960.  He wrote several books and articles, and one of his best-known works is "The Serenity Prayer."  Sculptor Robert Berks of Orient, New York, created the  sculpture, which was dedicated in 1997.
