The day of racing on June 7 is a charitable event at its core.
Did you know that the Elmhurst Cycling Classic and Elmhurst Twilight Mile raise money for those among us in need and we also raise awareness of the charities that serve them?
In this blog, we will highlight how YOU can make a difference just by showing up to Wilder Park on June 7th! The event’s organizer, DuPage Cycling Foundation (DCF), donates net proceeds to individuals and charities that serve our community at a “grass-roots” level. Come to support the community, AND catch some exciting action!
- Help A Veteran! The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (MSHV) is a beneficiary of DuPage Cycling Foundation. Based in Wheaton, IL, they provide valuable services to veterans and their families across Chicagoland as they seek to ensure US veterans can stay in their homes. On June 7, there will be a “Pack The Van” drive for MSHV. Bring items from the list below to Wilder Mansion June 7, 2pm – 6pm. We want to send the van back LOADED with items in need by our veterans!
Also – look for donation bins at select Elmhurst Park District locations. We will be collecting items there prior to the event.
- United Community Concerns - Elmhurst-based United Community Concerns provides food and referral services to hurst District 205’s most financially disadvantaged children and their families in an effort to fight hunger. Look for UCCA at the entry to the Beer Garden. Are you unfamiliar with UCCA? I am sure they would love to talk to you about how important it is to fight hunger right here in Elmhurst. UCCA has been a great supporter of the Elmhurst Cycling Classic and we are proud to have them be a big part of our event!

- Elmhurst University – We are so fortunate to have such a fantastic institution here in Elmhurst. Elmhurst University provides a gorgeous backdrop for our day of racing, AND they provide critical support to the logistics of our day. We are proud to call Elmhurst University a partner, and we are even more proud to help support their mission with students.

- More than half of our undergraduates are the first in their families to go to college.
