The Superior Ambulance Service Elmhurst Cycling Classic Returns June 8, 2024 with The Elmhurst Twilight Mile!

Many Elmhurst residents are familiar with the thrilling bike races that make up the Elmhurst Cycling Classic.  We are excited that racing is back on June 8, 2024!  And this year, there is an exciting new addition to the day!

The Elmhurst Twilight Mile will enable runners to race on the same course, in front of the same large crowds, and chase a PR in the mile.  And some of the area’s faster runners will go for the $2,000 in prize money up for grabs.

Registration is open!  You can register here: Elmhurst Twilight Mile Online Registration (runreg.com)

Powered by Elmhurst’s CK Running, the race is for all runners who can complete the mile in under 10 minutes.

Director Charlie Kern said, “I have dreamt of a road mile in Elmhurst since 1993! We look forward to our many local runners testing themselves for the most understood distance race besides the marathon. Furthermore, we are excited to welcome elite runners who fancy the chance to run in front of large crowds and be encouraged to challenge the 4-minute barrier in what is arguably the most historic running community in the country!

Elmhurst Twilight Mile

The Elmhurst Twilight Mile is sponsored by two specialists at Hinsdale Orthopedics who are passionate about competition and healthy lifestyles.  They are familiar with the unique stresses that running and training can put on the body, as well as the impact of an injury on lifestyle and well-being.  Both are active in our community offering their support and service.

Dr. Ronak M. Patel is a Sports Medicine Specialist at Hinsdale Orthopedics.  He offers an innovative approach to reducing pain and improving recovery.  Dr. Patel works with athletes and patients suffering pain and inflammation associated with soft tissue injuries, nerve pain, arthritis, and surgery.

Dr. Alex Tauchen is an Elmhurst resident and an elite cyclist himself.  As a hip and knee replacement specialist, his main goal in treating patients with hip and knee issues is to make sure that they fully understand both the nature of their problem and all the treatment options available to them, with a philosophy of maximizing non-operative treatment.

We are grateful for the support from both these leaders in their field and in our community.

Whether you are gearing up for the Elmhurst Running Club’s Four on the Fourth or want to add a fun speed workout to your training, The Elmhurst Twilight Mile is a must-do event. Come to Wilder Park to watch some of the elite bike racers go for the Illinois State Championship, and then join us on a fun course and in front of fun crowds as you race a mile.

Information can be found at Elmbike.com, and there are links for inquiries as well.  Spread the word, register to run, and mark your calendar to come to Wilder Park on the afternoon of June 8, 2024!
