Family Fun on June 8th in Wilder Park

The Superior Ambulance Service Elmhurst Cycling Classic Showcases Wilder Park, the Wilder Mansion, and the Elmhurst Park District Family Fun Ride!

Come to Wilder Park in the afternoon of June 8, 2024 for free and fun events for the family!

Get up close to exciting racing!  Starting at 10 am, bike races will be happening all day.  The races increase in speed and racer experience throughout the day, and by mid afternoon, some of the fastest racers in the area take to the course to go for the Illinois State Championship.  At 2:45 and 3:45 pm, Masters racers and elite women go for their championships.  And if you have not been to an elite race, you cannot miss the final race at 5pm!  Get right up to the barricades near Wilder Mansion to feel the energy and speed as racers zoom by in excess of 30 mph.  Ex-professional racer Kenny Labbe will be calling the action from the stage at the start finish line, playing music and getting the crowds engaged in the high-energy action.

Immediately after the final bike race, the crowds turn their attention to the fast runners who will chase prize money and a chance to race the same course in the first ever Elmhurst Twilight Mile.  Some of the area’s most elite runners will go for a PR in the mile on this challenging but fun course.  And runners of all abilities are welcome!  What a fun way to test yourself on how fast you can run the mile in front of cheering crowds.  To stay on schedule, runners should be able to complete the mile in under 10 minutes.

After the Twilight Mile, the course will be opened to an Elmhurst favorite – the Elmhurst Park District Family Fun Ride!  Families of all ages can ride the course and enjoy the music, crowds and parties that surround the route.  Registration is FREE and is located at Courts Plus.  If you pre-register at Courts Plus, you are automatically entered to win a NEW BIKE courtesy of Kelly Stetler Compass Real Estate!  All riders will need to wear a helmet and sign a waiver.  Waivers are available online and can be dropped off at Courts Plus.

Come cheer the elite cyclists.  Run the mile or root for all the runners.  And then enjoy a nice ride with families around the course.
